My work is an exploration of the trace, and more precisely, of the trace of absence. Whether embodied in painting, photography, or conceptual works, I track this "scar" where the void still possesses a form and where light emerges from this erasure.
Thus, concerning my paintings, the work revolves around a process of adding and removing material, through which I pursue the beauty of stigmas, seeking to capture their particular vibration. These residues, these "negatives of fullness," at once architectural and disrupted by the mechanics of the body, turn the canvas into the vestige of a physical engagement where damage becomes a sculptural form.
Indeed, I conceive painting as an act that is both performative and meditative. It demands a total engagement of the body through repetitive gestures, sometimes energetic, sometimes restrained. In the very essence of this repetition lies a form of appeasement: the gesture nourishes the material as much as the painter's intimate introspection.
From this "battle” emerge works with a deeply meditative dimension, whose inner vibration reveals itself little by little to those who take the time to look at them. Variations in light, transparencies, and their tactile materiality, silky or rough, fully participate in the sensory experience.
I thus wish for my paintings to act as spaces of intimate resonance, a kind of silent confidant. The gaze then extends the creative process: everyone can project onto them their own fragilities, their inner shadows, and find appeasement there.
Ultimately, my approach is an alchemy of resilience: transforming inner turmoil and fragility into a silent intensity, bringing forth, through material and light, a transition from chaos to acceptance and serenity.
